ON The Amazing Spider Man. I was literally digging my nails through my scalp and pulling on my hair roots the soonest the credits rolled and I was swept outside the cinema. Now, you see, many people would perhaps compliment this movie and say how good it was BUT I don't think they really, really understand all the genius, all the finer details, and the painstaking intricacy involved in this movie the way I or we (other obsessive fangirl/boy loon) do. I'm thrashing even now as I'm typing and I don't think many understand what I'm feeling at this point. The movie is a comics in motion. Every scene was played as if you're flipping through the damn marvel comics and every second of it was well thought of and meant something. No scene was a waste and every line was persistently in character. Go Figure.
It wouldn't do it justice to compare this version with the previous Spider Man Trilogy. Spidey was presented here not to flaunt his action moves but to truly portray, well, Spider Man as an 'angsty' teenager-immature- newbie hero. I appreciated most how this latest film gave emphasis on the Spider Sense and bodily changes within Peter Parker. After all, it was the Spider Sense that symbolizes his strength the most, and what separates him from the other Avengers, and what consistently saves his ass from his enemies. Another applause to the focus on his artificial spider web! The movie gave credit on the uniqueness and tenacity of the web and they didn't stray from the fact that Peter had to equip it. When Peter's in costume, you can't help but think of his webs. I soooo looked forward whether or not he'd suddenly use up all his freakin web. His extraordinary strength was given due emphasis in a nice way too because Spider Man, who's looking lithe compared to all his nemesis, is always getting mishandled, crushed or thrashed in an exaggerated manner. One would wonder how he'd take it all. It didn't get unnoticed how the movie portrayed this Spider Man's recklessness and course, rough movements. Loved the way he was having poor control and was bumping accidentally on buses and on walls the first time he was pursued. Loved the was he didn't particularly care about keeping his identity a secret at the beginning and how ignorant and immature he'd been carrying personal vendetta on his chest pursuing criminals--and without realizing it--until Gwen Stacy's father pointed it out to him. Loved the way he wasn't acting all hero-ish and all goody while kicking bad guys. No. Everything had been impure and personal at first and even facing the Lizard had been only because he felt responsible for creating it. He didn't just wake up and decided to be a hero after some few superfluous words. He was hammered and created by events. There was a pervasive sense of being driven by emotions and having to deal with people. This Spider Man has been groping in the dark and has been all wrapped in exhilaration about his new found abilities as every bloody teen would be. And this Spider Man, like in the real Marvel comics and cartoon, still has his sense of wit and humor.
Loved the way the details were carefully weaved and crafted. I could actually go on for a couple of hundred more words but I gotta end this with saying that I would carry it as an insult and my personal vendetta should anyone stupidly let his tongue loose and talk bad about this movie. I'm generally not biased and am generally considering myself patient and open minded but there are things I consider an exception.
